Late Summer Development Update
Hey, it's been a hot minute!
Over the summer I've been pounding out new and overhauled character assets as well as implementing previously designed UI systems. So to kick off, let's have a deep dive into the UI as it currently stands!
Here's how the base UI looks now:
(click here to see it in action)
From left to right:
- Supplies - A new screen! Functions as general inventory for items other than equipment. Still in development, no preview yet.
- Codex - Another new screen that's still in development, but has an early look here.
- Log - Now its own standalone screen, as shown here. (enjoy the OOC testing dialogue lmao)
- Stats - See below!
- Menu - Relocated to fit in other buttons, but still holds all the essentials (save, load, preferences, etc.)
- Hide UI - (left corner of the text window) Does what it says on the tin! Clicking anywhere brings it back.
- Skip - (right corner of the text window) Skips to the next choice/event (if seen).
- Equips - See below!
- (Money) - A tracker for currency, also referred to as "ouros" in-game.
- Map - Same as before , actually. Just shows the map of Canavar (if Killigan has it) and how far along he is on its route.
The stats screen has seen a major overhaul, as previously alluded to, and now incorporates a better visualization for Killigan's personality.
Instead of 3 different personalities, it's been condensed to whether he acts more noble, more barbaric, or somewhere in between. Certain dialogue options may open up or how he acts during an event can change with more noble behavior (signified by each of the breakpoints), or with more barbaric behavior, conversely. Stat totals (gains over the course of the story + equipment bonuses) are shown, as well as progress towards the next rank.
The equipment screen looks laregly the same as it was in the previous update, with a few tweaks and polishing up.

There's several specifics now, however:
- The equipment screen is now usually accessible, but when Killigan's out in public, he won't mess with his equipment other than looking at what he currently has on.
- You can hold up to 3 of each equipment type, but that can be increased later in the story (in the gif, the limit is 4 of each equipment type)
- A tooltip now shows info for each piece of equipment. In addition, stat totals (earned + equipment bonus) are shown at the top of the screen, similar to the stats screen.
- Personality no longer has an effect on whether or not certain slots are accessible. If you wanna be a barbarian that wears pants, go nuts!
- The "SET OUTFIT" button sets Killigan's outfit and exits out of the screen. Right now, the the return button there does the same thing but uhh...don't mind it. It's only supposed to show when his current outfit *can't* be changed, I forgot to code it in before making these previews. It's coded in now!
As far as new art assets go, here's a much younger Killigan and his father, redone in HD!
Not only that, but a few older CGs have also been redone!
And that's about it for this update!
Thanks for y'all's continued support and patience, it's IMMENSELY appreciated and fuels me on delivering a quality release as fast as possible!
